AYT : a new sound Format by GPA and Logon System

-

Tronic, Siko and Longshot are presenting today a new audio file format called AYT (AY Turbo).

It is a compact and simple format usable by any program requiring high CPU performance and cycle-accurate constant-time operation, it is available on Pouet.

This format is intended for all platforms using an AY-3-8910/AY-3-8912 (General Instrument) sound processor or a compatible chip (YM-2149 from Yamaha). Several authoring tools and players have been developed and tested for the following platforms: Amstrad CPC and CPC+, MSX, ZX Spectrum 128, VG5000 (with VG5210 soundcard). AYT files are produced from YM files.

Many tools have been created around this format (windows, linux), some of which can be used directly online (e.g., YM->AYT converter, YM/AYT player, YM sequencer, AYT Jukebox).

Z80A players have been created on several old-school platforms, such as the Amstrad CPC and Plus, MSX, ZX Spectrum 128 and VG 5000 (with the VG 5210 sound card). These players have the particularity of occupying little memory space, being very (very) fast, and operating in constant cycles. More information is available (guides, sources, executable, benchmarks, ...) on Github, on AYT Web Tools and on AYT Player – AY/YM Emulator (WIP).

It could be an end but it is in fact a new start as Duke has released on Github all needed informations so at least for a start two people will make new boards :
