Released in April 2020, Las Aventuras de Rudolphine Rur is a spanish adventure game written by Dwalin where you are the shoemaker Rudolphine Rur who has everything to be happy but still is going to a dangerous place.

The game was first written in 2005 with the Superglus software (by Uto) which is a port of the virtual machine Glulx. In 2015 the game was ported to the ngPAWS still by Uto which lets create an online version. Finally in 2019, work started to port the game with the DAAD software created initially by Tim Gilberts and actually maintained by Stefan Vogt. Daad can create ports to many computers including the one which interests us :

• Amstrad CPC
  • tape version without graphics, with short places descriptions and answers
  • disk version with graphics, with short places descriptions and answers
  • version M4 Wifi with graphics, with short places descriptions (but long description by using the command D) and long answers
• Amstrad PCW without graphics, with long places descriptions and short answers

CPCRetroDev 2020 is the 8th edition of the programming contest for the Amstrad CPC 464, organized by the Alicante's university. You have till the 3rd November 2020 to submit your program. Results will be available starting at 7pm on the 13th November.

As stated by @adventuron on Twitter, why not making an adventure game for this contest using Adventuron and the DAAD software ?

John Ward is working on a version of Atic Atac for Amstrad CPC (CPCWiki).

Richard Bannister was the maintainer of a MacOS port of the Arnold emulator, now maintained by Kevin Thacker. But he is also the author of the Audio Overload utility which lets you play VGM music files, including .AY and .YM Amstrad music files. This utility runs on MacOS, Windows and Linux.

ESP Soft has released Red Sunset today for Amstrad CPC. It's a shoot them up, inspired by 1942.

Target Renegade is a beat them all game written in 1988 by Mike LAMB (code), Dawn DRAKE (graphics), Gary BIASILLO (music) and a cover illustration by Bob WAKELIN. It was edited by Ocean Software under the label Imagine Software.

On OursoN Retrogames's youtube channel, Galamoth is showing a speedun in 19 minutes and 32 seconds on Target Renegade.

Stefan Vogt has released for personal, educational use only the source code of The Curse of Rabenstein.

You will need :

• the DAAD engine,
• the DAAD Reborn Compiler (DRC),
• Maluda (DAAD module allowing several functions so DAAD games can make use of fast data storage).

Atic Atac is a classic on ZX Spectrum (Atic Atac on Wos). The game was written by Tim and Chris Stamper, it was published by Ultimate Play the Game (alson on the BBC micro) in 1983.

John Ward is working on a version of Atic Atac for Amstrad CPC (CPCWiki).

8-Bit Keys has made an interesting video showing the structure of the music played during the high score table of Commando, which he is playing on a Yamaha PSR-32 keyboard (1987).

Space moves is an Amstrad CPC game written by Toni RAMIREZ and John McKlain for the music, edited by Retrobytes Productions for the 2015 contest. There is now a physical edition sold by Matra for 21,45 euros.

Cronosoft is an editor for homebrew games for retro computers and consoles since 2002/2003, including the Amstrad CPC : the Smirking Horror (2004, initial release in 1991), Balloonacy (2007) and Stranded (2009).

Retro Video Gamer made a short interview of Cronosoft in January 2016.

Thanks to Xporter and RVMEngine available for the Amstrad CPC framework CPCTelera v1.5 (WIP), you can already test the possibility of exporting your Amstrad CPC game to an Android program.

The last game by Reidrac (Juan Martinez) is out since the 17th April : Kitsune's Curse.

Kitsun'es curse is the following of Golden Tail, where the Osaka Castle was released from the evil summoned by the dark heart of the Shogun. But not all ended well for everybody.

When the true nature of our hero Kitsune was revealed, something unexpected happened: he shape-shifted into a fox-man.

To make things worse, when he woke up after the transformation, the talisman had been stolen by the Yiga. This clan is known for their dark arts and their deals with the Yōkai (supernatural monsters), and it is believed that they hide it now in Akasaka Castle, trying to subjugate the power of the stone.

You play the role of the ninja spy, who is on a mission to steal the Golden Tail from the Yiga clan, and hopefully use it to break Kitsune’s Curse.
